Open-Air Walsall Family Events Ready To Start Up Again From 19 July

Pending a decision about national COVID-19 restrictions, open-air family events and activities in Walsall are set to start up again from 19 July.

Splash pads at Walsall Arboretum, King George V playing fields and Willenhall Memorial Park are planned to open from July 22 from 11-5pm each day.

The Saturday morning park run at Walsall Arboretum is also due to restart from 24 July. The 5k run will take place every Saturday from 9am.

Numerous funfairs are also planned, including at King George V playing fields this weekend, as well as George Rose Park in Darlaston, Swannies Field in Goscote and Barr Beacon in July.

Other events include a Classic Car Show at Walsall Arboretum on 11 July and the Walsall Town Show on 22-24 August, as well as bandstand concerts on Sunday afternoons at Willenhall Memorial Park between 18 July until 29 August.

Charities are also getting ready to re-start events, including Race for Life for Cancer Research and a charity dog walk in Walsall Arboretum this September.

Councillor Oliver Butler, Portfolio holder for Clean and Green, Walsall Council said, “There’s lots for people to do in our parks and open spaces this summer, especially with the Children’s summer holidays coming up – get something in your diaries!”

“Being out there in the fresh air is really important for your health and wellbeing, not just physically but for keeping a healthy mind as well.”

“Find out more and get yourself, your families and friends out there to enjoy what’s on offer. A reminder though to keep within the COVID-19 guidelines of course and to make sure you follow Hands, Face, Space and allow for fresh air.”
