Walsall Businesses Invited To Clean Up With Litter Picking Equipment

Walsall Council has launched a litter charter aimed at encouraging local businesses to keep their shop fronts litter-free.

Simon Betteridge of Betteridge Butchers in Bentley is the first to sign up

In return for pledging to the Litter Charter, businesses will be given litter picking equipment to help them tidy up.

Other benefits of participation in the project include the promotion of your business participation in the scheme and education for staff to promote the anti-litter message.

Councillor Oliver Butler, portfolio holder for Clean and Green, said “We’ve got to find new ways of keeping the borough clean and our new Litter Charter is a good way forward to help make the borough as clean and green as possible.”

“I must applaud Simon on stepping up and leading the way, hopefully for other businesses to follow suit. If you are a local business that take pride in keeping our borough clean, then I encourage you to get in touch with the team to find out how you can be involved. If all local retailers would commit to spending just a matter of minutes each day cleaning up their frontages it would make a huge difference.”
