Arboretum Memorial Walk May Feature Engraved Leaves Of Loved Ones

Walsall Council is seeking public opinion regarding the creation of a memorial walk at the Arboretum.

The idea is to utilise one of the existing circular pathways in the park to create a peaceful walk that gives residents the opportunity to commemorate the lives of their loved ones.

Starting off from the Grange car park, the Council proposes the planting of wildflowers along the route, as well as a new bog garden close to the stream. Benches will be installed along the path overlooking the water, alongside wooden sculptures.

A personal touch to the memorial walk would be the option to buy an engraved leaf that would be attached to a wooden monolith, paying respect to a family member that is no longer with you.

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing, said: “I hope residents take the opportunity to let us know what they think about the proposals. It isn’t a long or complex consultation document so should only take a few minutes to complete.”
