Children in Year 6, born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 will be heading to secondary school in September 2022 and there’s just a couple of weeks left to submit your application. The deadline is a national deadline so applies to all secondary school applications across the country.

The application form can be filled in online, allowing parents to choose up to five secondary schools.

Councillor Chris Towe, Portfolio Holder for Education and Skills said, “I strongly urge parents and carers to make sure that you maximise your chances of obtaining a year 7 place at one of your preferred schools by submitting your application prior to the national application deadline of 31 October 2021.”

“Last year 94% of on-time applicants were allocated one of their preferred schools. It’s really important that you utilise all of the preferences to ensure that your child is allocated a school that you would be happy for them to attend. Applications received after this deadline will be processed as late applications and this will impact on your chance of receiving an offer at one of your preferred schools.”

Late applications are still accepted up until 31 December 2021, but reduce the chances of getting into the first school that is chosen on the list. To find out more and to fill in the application, visit the Walsall Schools Admission website.
