Queen’s Baton Relay Coming To Walsall

Walsall will play a part in the official Queen’s Baton Relay in the lead up to the start of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Baton Relay takes place across the country for 29 days before it arrives at the opening ceremony at the Alexandra Stadium on 28 July, 2022.

The relay will arrive in Walsall on 23 July and visit the Walsall Gala baths, which is hosting a range of events, including an artistic swimming display and a Come and Try Aquatics programme.

The Queen’s Baton Relay will then arrive at Walsall Arboretum where a Commonwealth Cultural Festival will be taking place.

Locals are invited to get involved with the celebrations, with further details due to be announced shortly.

Councillor Garry Perry, Deputy Leader for Resilient Communities said:

“Following on from the many community events planned across the borough for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, it really is shaping up to be a summer of celebrations.

“We will issue more details about the supporting events we are organising in the coming weeks and I hope lots of residents turn out on the day to enjoy the events and to give our Batonbearers a cheer.”
