Clarks becomes latest iconic brand to close in Walsall

Clarks has become the latest retail store to close in Walsall town centre following a restructure of its outlets in a bid to increase profitability.

The Saddlers Centre outlet spent its final days cutting the price of its shoe range to just £5 in the lead-up to its closure on 10 February, 2024.

A spokesperson for Clarks stated that this isn’t the end of the iconic shoe brand with new stores continuing to be reopened and refitted as the industry adapts to the move towards online shopping.

The Saddlers Centre is soon to be part of a £1.5 billion investment programme designed to transform the area under the Walsall Town Centre Masterplan.

Described as a “creative and bold re-imagining of the type of place that Walsall town centre could become,” the Saddlers Centre will be refurbished, with recent draft images giving us a glimpse of what it may look like once complete.
