Nearly 80% Of Walsall Children Get Preferred Secondary School Place

Thousands of school children have today found out which secondary school they’ve been allocated for the 2022/23 academic year.

According to Chris Towe, portfolio holder for education and skills at Walsall Council, 3,836 applications were received before the cut-off time in the borough with 79.6% getting their first preference granted.

10.4% received their second preference and 3.2% received their third preference. 208 families (5.4%) were allocated a place at an alternative school that wasn’t one of their preferred requests.

The results of the application can be viewed by logging into Walsall Council’s School Admissions Portal, though all families should have already received an email.
