New Bleed Control Kits In Walsall Could Save Lives

Life-saving bleed control kits have been distributed across the borough by West Midlands Police for use in emergencies.

10 kits have been placed at strategic locations with another 23 bleed kits due to be distributed shortly.

Locations include the Saddlers Centre in Walsall, The Crown Inn in Aldridge, Swan Flooring in Brownhills and Pelsall Village Centre.

The bleed kits include tourniquets, bandages, gloves and other essentials that allow members of the public to help treat injuries before paramedics arrive on the scene.

Funding for the kids was made possible thanks to the Daniel Baird Foundation, which was set up by Daniel’s mother Lynne following the tragic murder of her son in 2017.

PC Ian Brotherton, Young Persons Officer at Walsall, said: “These bleed kits are being rolled out through an excellent multi-agency approach.

“Walsall Police have been working in joint partnership with a number of agencies including the emergency services, Walsall Council and the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership and this is just a great example of how joint agency working can work so productively.

“It’s important when someone is stabbed, cut or injured that they receive first aid treatment straight away.

“These kits are designed to save lives and they are now being placed in accessible locations across the Walsall borough in case they are needed to save a life.”
