Clampdown on Sandwell Anti-Social Behaviour Takes To The Road

A new taskforce has been launched as part of a major drive to tackle anti-social behaviour in Sandwell.

Council chiefs in Sandwell has announced it will be undertaking a concerted clampdown on anti-social behaviour through the new, and highly-visible, taskforce in effort to tackle improve people’s lives in local communities.

The taskforce will seek to support evidence gathering to help with investigations. It will also liaise with different council services, the police and other partner organisations to strengthen a multi-agency response to dealing with anti-social behaviour.

Issues that will be tackled will include nuisance vehicles, graffiti, litter, abandoned vehicles and issues such as verbal abuse or being the victim of a crime.

Councillor Rajbir Singh, Leader of Sandwell Council, said: “This new taskforce is part of my ambition to create a safer Sandwell as I know this is really important to many Sandwell residents.

“I pledge to do all I can to make a difference to ensure residents feel safe and empowered to report these crimes to us and I am pleased to launch this taskforce in the first 100 days of my term as leader.

“We want our communities to respect each other, to take care of each other; and we – along with our partners – will do all that we can to ensure that they feel safe and protected in their homes and neighbourhoods.”

Sandwell Council is calling on borough residents to report any instances of anti-social behaviour by contacting West Midlands Police through their LiveChat facility or call 101 if not online.

Cases of anti-social behaviour can also be reported to Sandwell Council online or by calling 0121 368 1166. Always call 999 in the case of emergency.
